4th Sunday of Advent: Love
The angels that appear in the story of Jesus’ birth would have been very comfortable in our world of tweets and hashtags. Their messages were often short and to the point — their favorite line being #DoNotBeAfraid.
As we look at the stories of these winged messengers to Zechariah, Mary, Joseph, and the Shepherds and their reactions to them, we will contemplate what messages we can offer that will counteract a culture of fear and bring:
#morehope,
#morepeace,
#morejoy,
and #morelove
to the world.

All Saints Sunday
We join with Christians around the globe in remembering those who have gone before us on All Saints Day. A saint is simply someone who has gone before us and has shown us how to live. We remember their lives and honor them on the first Sunday in November.
Children's Sabbath Worship
The multi-faith Children’s Sabbath weekend engages places of worship across the country in focusing prayers, worship, education programs, and action on learning more about the urgent problems facing our nation’s children. By exploring sacred texts and teachings that call us to love and protect children, Children’s Sabbath encourages communities to respond with outreach and advocacy and, most importantly, inspire new, year-round action to improve the lives of children.
Some Children’s Sabbath celebrations are community-wide, multi-faith gatherings; others take place in individual places of worship. Together, we are inspiring change that will improve the lives of children!

World Communion Sunday
World Communion Sunday offers congregations a distinctive opportunity to experience Holy Communion in the context of the global community of faith. The first Sunday of October has become a time when Christians in every culture break bread and pour the cup to remember and affirm Christ as the Head of the Church. On that day, they remember that they are part of the whole body of believers. Whether shared in a grand cathedral, a mud hut, outside on a hilltop, in a meetinghouse, or in a storefront, Christians celebrate the communion liturgy in as many ways as there are congregations. World Communion Sunday can be both a profound worship experience and a time for learning more about our wider community of faith.

During worship, we will bless the backpacks and blankies of our kids and youth as they return to their school year. Bring your backpack or blankie to worship that day! Also, during worship, we will commission our Sunday school teachers for another year of teaching, and we'll present Bibles to our incoming 3rd graders.
After worship, we are having lunch together! We'll provide the fried chicken, and Pastor Dani and Caleb will also provide mac and cheese. Come as you are, and if you are able, bring an easy side dish (chips, fruit, etc) or drinks to share! It's going to be a joyful, community-filled day!

Gerald was the choral director for 39 years at Waynesboro Area Senior High.
Tod had a career singing opera but gave that up to teach choral music.
Hope, who recently graduated, is a violinist and was the concertmaster of her school orchestra.
Taylor will enter her junior year of high school. Taylor is a soloist in her high school choir.
The Kowallis family will not sing as a group, a la the famous Trapp Family, but will perform various classical and popular music individually. They will be accompanied by pianist Valerie Merriman. Admission is Free.

TUCC Yard Sale
On Saturday, May 27th, we will be having an all-church yard sale. It was decided to have it in Harbaugh Hall rather than outside in the parking lot since the weather is always questionable and having it inside will enable us to set up on Friday night. Again, you would have your own table(s), and you would be responsible for your own items, which means if it doesn’t sell, you need to take it home with you or see that it gets to Human Resources or the Thrift Shop. The time has not yet been set, but please sign up on the sign-up sheet and let us know how many tables you would like.
